Village Survival: Cups on Church Opens

“Now that everything’s acceptable, people can move anywhere,” Eugene Johnson said last Saturday at the grand re-opening of his Church Street café. Originally from Dominica, in the Caribbean, Johnson himself moved to the gay village 20 years ago. “

As opposed to mostly gay, now it’s very mixed,” Johnson said of the neighbourhood. “Everybody’s moving into these new condos, and we’re trying to reach everyone.”
