Although my work has been recognized by the Ontario Press Council and the Alberta Weekly Newspapers' Association, my claim to fame is that I was named "the People's Choice" in Miss Universe Canada. (Granted, looking decent in a bikini has absolutely nothing to do with journalism, but I have so few opportunities to brag about it.)
With a background in international development, I've conducted environmental education workshops in Vanuatu, perfected the use of a satellite phone in the jungles of Guyana and supervised teenage pool parties in the Dominican Republic. My adventure stories and budget travel tips can be found on my travel blog, Go a Little Further.
Areas of interest and expertise include: international development, travel, health and post-secondary education.
