Originally from Cold Lake, Alberta, I’m a freelance writer and fact checker splitting my time between Toronto, Canada and Sydney, Australia. I'm a contributing editor for Verge Magazine and a graduate of Ryerson University's magazine journalism program. My writing has appeared in Chatelaine, VICE and the Toronto Star, to name a few.

Although my work has been recognized by the Ontario Press Council and the Alberta Weekly Newspapers' Association, my favourite bragging right is that I was named "the People's Choice" in Miss Universe Canada (after entering as a joke).

With a background in international development, I've conducted environmental education workshops in Vanuatu, perfected the use of a satellite phone in the jungles of Guyana and supervised teenage pool parties in the Dominican Republic. My adventure stories and budget travel tips can be found on my travel blog, Go a Little Further.

Areas of interest and expertise include: international development, travel, health and post-secondary education.
